~ COMING EVENTS ~
FROM OUR CLUB PRESIDENT AND SHOW CHAIRPERSON
March 13, 2020
Dear CMOKC 2020 Exhibitors, Guests, and Spectators,
We regret to inform you that due to health reasons created by the COVID–19 virus, Purina Farms, Nestlé USA has closed the facility at Gray Summit, Missouri to all events through May 1, 2020. Consequently, the Columbia Missouri Kennel Club show scheduled March 28-29, 2020 has been cancelled.
As you know, the World Health Organization has declared the
COVID-19 novel coronavirus a worldwide pandemic and is discouraging social contact of large groups of people. This is an important step in slowing virus spread within our communities and in particular, protecting our high-risk friends and family members. According to AKC statistics, over 65% of its dog sports participants are in the 60 years and older age group, which places them at high risk for this disease.
Cancelling this show is out of our control as the show giving club. However, in light of the risk to the health and safety of attendees and those with whom they would come into contact during and after the event, we fully support the Event Center’s decision.
Stay safe and healthy, and let’s plan for a virus-free show in 2021!
Sincerely,
Bob Ekle, CMOKC President
